| A List Of The Winners And Top Performances From The 51st Annual Grammy Awards |
|
The 51st Annual Grammys’ was full
of amazing collaborations of performances and wins. Robert Plant and Alison
Krauss were the top winners of the night
taking home five awards including Album Of The Year Award for their album Raising Sand. Plant and Krauss beat out
Coldplay and Lil Wayne who among the top contenders for this award. Lil Wayne
won three awards including Best Rap Album for Tha Carter III and performed “Tie My Hands” with Robin Thicke.
Coldplay also took home three awards, one of which was Song Of The Year for “Viva
La Vida.” Coldplay performed their hit “Viva La Vida” and “Lost” with a cameo
made by Jay-Z. The Grammys’ didn’t stop with the
top winners; the night was filled with some amazing performances. Taylor Swift
performed her song “Fifteen” with Miley Cyrus. Paul McCartney and Dave Grohl
from the Foo Fighters rocked out to the Beatles song “I Saw Her Standing
There.” Katy Perry walked out of a giant banana to perform “I Kissed a Girl”
with an appearance by “My Grammy Moment” winner Ilea Matthews. Jennifer Hudson put on a
beautiful performance singing her song “You Pulled Me Through” that included a
standing ovation and a room full of teary eyes. This is only Hudson’s second
public appearance since the horrific death of her family. She gave all of
herself to this performance and in the very end you can hear the sadness in her
voice. When she accepted her award for Best R&B Album she said “I would
like to thank my family in heaven and those here today.” All eyes were on a very pregnant
M.I.A who performed “Swagga Like Us” with T.I., Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne.
The performance definitely had all fans singing, but possibly wondering when
she was going to burst. M.I.A’s due date was February 8th, so it is
any second now. A last minute performance was put
on by Al Green, Justin Timberlake, Keith Urban and Boyz II Men who sang Green’s
hit “Let’s Stay Together.” They filled in the slot beautifully for a
cancellation by Rihanna and Chris Brown. Abdul “Duke” Fakir the only original member
of the Four Tops accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award and put on a
performance with Jamie Foxx, Ne-Yo and Smokey Robinson. They sang a melody of
Four Tops hits like “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)” “Standing In
The Shadows Of Love” and “Reach Out I’ll Be There.” The Blind Boys Alabama were
also recognized for receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award and Clive Davis
was honored with the Recording Academy Industry Icon Award. Former Blink 182 members Travis
Barker, Mark Hoppus and Tom Delonge were presenter’s at the 51st Annual
Grammy Awards and made a very special announcement to their fans and audience.
They are reuniting as Blink 182. The same day as the Grammys’, they posted a
message on their website stating that they been back in the studio writing new
songs and recording. Look out for a Blink 182 album due out this summer along
with a tour. Here is a full list of the 51st
